You are indeed correct, I took the plunge into the nasty territory of 3DS Max and this is the eventual result after several pointless hours trying to figure out how to show shadows properly! UPDATE: Image has been updated to fix a shadow issue.
Using Paul Trenkler's retextured model, this is the first in a series of images I wish to create of the Enterprise-E. In 'Taking Flight' I think the overall theme that comes to mind is Movie Representation. As I go through though I want to aim to take a Robert Wilde approach in the future ones where I take a more photorealistic approach.
Nonetheless I think this turned out well and better than a lot of Sovereign Class images I've seen. There aren't in fact many though of the Sovereign Class, not sure whether that's a good or a bad thing...
